Painters coupons

August 17th, 2010

Have you received any coupons in the mail from another painting company? You have most likely seen them in mailers, coupon value packs, or local value ads.

If you have, and want another estimate, give us a call with the coupon and we will match it. There are companies that offer whole house painting for $2499.00. But if you read the coupon, as our last customer showed us, you will read that it is only for 8 rooms, (not a 2 story foyer) nor does it include paint! Make sure that you read the ads closely. We we do our best to match our competitions ads.

I need a idea for my sons Bedroom!

July 11th, 2010

After my son was at a loss for his bedroom, he decided he wanted a Patriots room. So we came up with several pictures, kept them simple as a 2 tone mural. Next we will add a logo with backlight to show off this room’s mural. Simple, but he loves it. Your kids have great ideas, you just have to listen to them.

I need to clean the paint!

July 1st, 2010

Have you painted part of your home lately? Did you have any drips or splats?  Well if you can believe it, so have we.

We have found that the best thing to use when cleaning up the paint is magic erasers. They will remove paint for up to 7 days after we are done. Try it you’ll like it!

If that doesn’t work, then get out the Krud Kutter. It works and it works well.

For those who have pets, kids or other messy makers, have you had a tough stain in  your carpet? If it is a natural stain (not oil etc) then pure hydrogen peroxide is the only thing you will ever need.

A good start means a good finish

June 13th, 2010

When we go into a customers house, we want the customer to be at ease and know they will be taken care of.  When we give the initial estimate, we want to make sure we explain why we cost more than our competition and why we are better.

When we walk into a home to prepare for painting, we find a entrance exit strategy. What is getting painted? We start at the farthest point and move to the exit point. Drop clothes are laid on the ground as we walk through to set up. Hardwood floors are covered for the areas of highest and most traffic. As we move through the house large pieces of furniture get moved to the center of the room. Each switch plate and outlet cover is removed and placed in a secure location. Each piece of trim is wiped down and taped off. Any type of light, thermostat, smoke detector, vent covers, towel bars,  or items mounted to the walls are either removed or loosed so we can paint.  The walls are sanded to remove burrs dirt or paint drips from a previous paint job. Nail pops are repaired and cracks are fixed.

When we are done painting, we remove the tape, replace outlet covers, look for any drips that may have happened, wipe the flooring down, sweep the floors and vacuum any debris.

The results speak for themselves.  There may be cheaper ways but that is not what we at Dfranco Painting and Decorating do.

Who are you hiring to paint?

June 10th, 2010

I was asked this question this week during an estimate walk through. Who are you, why should I hire you, why should I trust you, how do I know you will do what you say, are you gonna do what the last guy did?

We are D’franco Painting and Decorating. We have come from a part time hobby, to 2 friends working together to Dfranco Inc. We have Taken over A Painted wall. We have bought The Finishing Touches inc. We are still looking to expand. In an economy of payoffs our customers are on a waiting list. We have grown every single year in business. We never stop to learn.

Are you getting estimates from painters that are insured?

Is the person you are considering a out of work painter from another company working for cash? If so who will pay for the paint on the carpet- replace the new sink he just cleaned is tools out it an ruined the finish of?

What kind of references did you get? Homeowner? Businesses? Other contractors? Decorators? Realtors? We give them all to you, its not Aunt Jenny giving you the thumbs up to us.

How much does the contract tell you? It should spell out everything-does it?

You may pay a bit more but you cant expect a Lexus at a Chevy Dealer

Why should I buy a Faux Finish

June 3rd, 2010

As you stand in line at Sherwin Williams, Home Depot, Lowes, Menards, or Benjamin Moore looking at the wall treatments that are available, how do you decide what you want?

Are you going to settle for what is in the wallpaper books? Are you going to use the same thing that came with your bedding told you to use? WHY?

If you are going through the trouble of new bedding, new paint or decorating, new drapes why would you want to use the same wallpaper as someone else? You can have something that fits your budget, your style, your colors, your own design, and your personality.

Faux finishes are designed for you to give you something that is all yours. No one else will have it. This is all about you.

How can we help you?

No VOC paint from Sherwin Williams

May 27th, 2010

We have completed our 2nd job using the Harmony line of paints from Sherwin Williams. After 24 gallons we can say….WOW!  we used the flat for ceilings which I feel had too much sheen for a flat paint. We also used the eggshell for the walls.  We really put it to the test. After having a great feel for it in a bathroom, we cut in a room at the top and bottom of each wall, left for an hour, then painted the walls. When the paint dried, we had no flashing, no marks, no streaks, and no sign of where we started or ended. When the walls dried, the sheen was perfect, not too shiny as with most eggshells, it was more of a low lustre look, with a great washability.

For homeowners, this would be a great one coat paint coverage.

Green Paint

May 20th, 2010

The newest trend in paint is going green.  So we have made some moves to get on the no voc and green paints. Of course realizing the glowing red on your ears is a reaction to paint is a good reason to switch.

In using the Sherwin progreen we have found that the paint is very sensitive to  humidity, and temperature. We had to add water and flow additive in order to keep from getting flashing along our cut lines.  Even with A Sherwin rep with us, the drying time was extremely fast. If you use it, be prepared to paint fast!!
