when we make appointments with our customers, the number 1 question we are asked is what should I do first, carpet, cabinets, counters, window treatments, new trim?
Not that everyone is going to have all of that done but you get the Idea. When we are called to paint a room, we should be part of the process of your decorating but more of the final touch. You should not pick a color until you know what color your granite will be, what your new bedding will be or the style of window treatments you are getting,

Even though the snow may be flying this is a perfect time to get a good look at the exterior of your home. With the dryer precipitation you can see the condition of your home.
Do you have wood/cedar/lap type siding? If so what does it look like? You need to look at the joints to make sure they are not gaped, make sure there are not any knot holes, and finally really look at it see see if it looks dried out. How does it feel? If your siding is rough to the touch, you get white residue on your hand or you get pieces of the siding coming off ans you touch it, you should have us take a look. Do you like the color? Now that you have the time to think about it, what color would you really like?
Do you have aluminum or vinyl siding? If it is chalky or pasty looking it could benefit from a power washing. If it is peeling or has oxidized it is time for new paint, no need to replace it.

This is the time of year that most people are frustrated with just about everything. We get a call because the family is coming to stay for the holidays and they need “it” painted before they get here.
As much as we would love to fit everyone in the schedule and give everyone what they want for Christmas, odd are it may not happen. So save up those lists, put the decorations away then give us a call when we are typically slower (Jan-Mar) and we can really help each other out.

Here is a Dining room set that we finished last week. They were a wonderfull orange color that we refinished, then Martha at MHOME Design in Hinsdale, IL changed out the cushions with updated fabrics. 1/3 the cost of new chairs, 100% better looking.
At a recent job, we were painting a spare bedroom. After about an hour of prep work, we started to paint. As we work around the closet door a snake pops its head out of the partially open doors! I jumped, let out a Holy “roller” comment, and I hear the home owner call to me “I think David found the snake”.
