It seems kind of silly on one hand but then again, I have reward programs on all of my business and personal cards so might as well take advantage of them!

One of the most common things we are asked to do before we paint is to strip wallpaper. Stripping wallpaper is not the fun task in the world. It is messy, time consuming and depending on the type of wallpaper-it is a pain in the butt! There are so many types of wallpaper and products to use to strip it from your walls, we thought we would save you some money. If you have to remove the wallpaper yourself, peel off the top layer first. You can now go back with a sponge and HOT water to remove the backing. Finally with a scraper, sponge and hot water you need to wash and scrape all of the glue from the wall. Once it is dry you can prime the wall (don’t use the cheap stuff). We wear rubber gloves, because it is a sticky, gooey, slimy job.

Now that you are ready to paint, what will you do? Traditional painting? Faux finishes? Since we do not hang wallpaper (but have people we can call if needed), we duplicate the feel of different wallpaper designs by our faux finishes. Using different textures, mediums, stencils, plasters and glazes we can make a custom design that is all yours.

So what are you waiting for? Call Dfranco, leave the mess to us!

We had a customer that was looking to update the look of her foyer and main living area. They had this part of their home painted about 5 years ago and since had changed drapes, carpet, and furniture so the color of the walls didn’t really match the paint color. Because the paint was in good condition, there was no patching of holes, and it was clean, we were able to glaze the walls with 2 colors that not only updated to color but the feel of the room.

This is just one of the ways we can help you update your home and stay in your decorating budget.

One of the top questions we get from customers when they are looking for a mural is “How much does a mural cost”? I wish that was an easy question to answer, but it is not. Think of a mural as buying a car, you cannot call a car dealer and ask them how much is a SUV? Think of the details that you want in your car: size, color, budget, leather/cloth, stereo, gps, how many seats, etc.

Now put that into a mural. How big is your wall? What type of theme do you want? Do you only want a wall or do you want to incorporate a ceiling and joining walls? How long do you want this mural to be in your home? Are you looking for a cartoonish painting-a realist painting-abstract? these questions determine pricing. Have you looked online at other murals? There are thousands of images online that you can use to inspire you own personalized mural. From a baby nursery, music themes, race fans, movie themed, inspired from a photo, a favorite vacation spot, or maybe something small like a painting of your pet, we can help you find what you are looking for.

Just like we tell our young men in Boy Scouts, “be prepared”!

One issue we keep getting complaints about it wall cracks. These cracks can be caused from stress, settling of the home, poor installation of drywall, or the use of nails to install corner beads.

Fixing these cracks is messy! Lots of dust and debris. When we inspect your home for painting the type of cracks determine the cost in repairs and ultimately the cost of painting your home. If you are taking on these repairs yourself, make sure you remove all of the cracked/damaged plaster, use screws (not nails) to re-secure the drywall or corner beads, and the use of wedges to fix stress cracks ensure a job is done right.
